Ferry Travel Tips
Summer weekends and holidays sell out. Book your ferry tickets at least a week ahead during peak season (JuneβAugust).
Arrive at the dock at least 30 minutes before departure, especially if you're bringing bicycles or have a large group.
Bikes can be transported for an extra fee (~$8β12). Or rent one on the island β it's often more convenient!
Cars are not allowed on the island. Leave your vehicle at a paid lot near the ferry dock β most cost $10β20/day.
The Straits of Mackinac can be breezy even in summer. Bring a light jacket for the crossing β you'll be glad you did.
Both ferry companies offer luggage delivery direct to your hotel β a great option if you're packed for a longer stay.
